any suggestions on what tester to buy ? i wont be doin much testing its only for my own work in domestic properties but i want a 1 for a good price, not to hard to use and is not gona break after a few weeks.

The Metrel MI3000 Eurotest Easi Plus is a very good budget MFT putting a lot of more expensive MFTs to shame. Anybody starting out on a restricted budget or looking for their first tester would do well to seriously consider buying one. One minor criticism, the Metrel instruction manual can confuse novices by the odd English used in places (lost in translation from the original Slovene). Any difficulties, just post a question on the forum, one of us is likely to know the answer.
An alternative budget MFT which punches above its price is the Di-log 9083P, which most find easy to use and reliable.
Both MFTs are available from Testmeter our sponsors with a 5% discount for forum members, see link below:

Megger 1552 or 1700 series if you want to loop test rcd's without faffing about with a N connection. I got fed up replacing the £50 test lead on my Metrel.
