Hi All

What tests do you guys do before giving a price for changing a CU in a property to know what problems are there prior.

Thanks

none. I tell the customer my price covers a days labour to swap the CU and remedy any faults. If I have to come back the next day, its extra. Some days I am out in 5-6 hours others I am there al ady and back the next.

I generally tell them that I would need to do an IR test before to highlite any faults, this would be a set price. If any faults were found we would agree a price to rectify them before the cu change.

Minimum testing would be an IR test N-E to ensure RCDs won't trip once installed. If possible charge for a brief EICR beforehand and then advise on remedial works cost before changing CU.
between neutrals n all....check if theres any thats been borrowed`....

Not a test as such...but a visual to see if bonding is in place and upto the current edition of BS7671....if not..then that needs factoring into the price......a Ze...to be sure that earthing arrangements are adequate....or you may find your held up waiting for the DNO to pull its finger out....
