I am going to a job tomorrow, no power at a rented property.

Possible the main DNO fuse blown, in the old days I would carry them and replace it, but the these days touching their equipment is a big no no. So what should I do if it is blown?

Make sure that it was'nt repossessed and the supply removed due to non payment ,can be a bitch to sort with the supplier
Dealt with this a few times ,and being the middle man (not the new property owner ) is a pain

The prolem turn out to be a missing fuse L60 wylex and fuse carrier. Not the DNOs but part of the internal wiring in an apartment building.

Thank you everyone

Earthing a comms cabinet?
have the regs changed upgrading the size of the conducter for protective bonding of a metal enclosure carrying telecom/datacom equipment as we are being told that for larger cabinets 1m high and above we are now to install a 16mm earth?

Are you sure this is not a functional earth?

If not then the usual regulations apply to sizing main protective bonding conductors.

Hi Fucntional earthing is no longer required as telephone systems do no longer use eath loop recall, so this can only be an protective earth and does this still need to be run back to the CU?

Maybe not on telephone only but many voice/data installers still insist on a functional earth.

The metal cabinet is unlikely to meet the definition of an extraneous-conductive part so the introduction of a main protective bonding conductor could increase hazard in the event of a fault on the system.

You should definitely get it checked out by an electrician. Not worth risking your safety.
