thats what i think but would that cause the burning ?

the socket was under a single oven in a oven housing possibly too close to the oven body, i removed the socket and replaced with a chocbox and 15A strip connector the socket was supplied via a fused spur.

Possibly the heat from the oven:confused:

Can i query if you have put the choc box and connectors within the same confines as the socket was with possible high temp' issues, if so your choice of connection may not endure the ambient temp' when oven in use.

no offence taken

what have you seen done before darkwood ?
Refering to less than safe solutions to everyday electrical problems, but 20yrs worth of following bad workmanship means the list is endless, alot of people out there especially in the years gone by chose to do quick job for fast buck, luckily thats getting ironed out of the trade now its just the persistant cowboys and the diy enthusiasts now.
