What are your thoughts?

I think a good electrician will accept full responsibility for their work and that responsibility should extend for the life of the installation.

A bad electrician would chuck it in any old way and be off in the van as quickly as possible without a second thought.

A good Electrician got qualified, got experience and became competent whilst being trained and cares about their work.

Or you can buy competence from a Part P Competent Person Scheme.

I'd say a good sparky does safe neat work, keeps his customers happy, makes good money
A bad sparky doesn't really understand what it is he's doing, p***es off a lot of his clients and makes far less money than he thinks he does

The sarcastic answer is
OK I will play your silly games "What is the difference"

There is no such thing as a bad electrician,if they are bad, they are not electricians

There is varying degrees of competence on all walks of life, electrics is no different in that respect, its just our trade is open to a wider variety of abuse than most others

"For ther life of the installation"? taking it a bit far when bob harry tom n freda have all done their wee "additions" to your installation
You can give 4 guys the same job to do 4 different opinions on route, containment, cable, size ect ect ect doesnt mean 1 is right others are wrong
Iv seen a right few "cowboy" looking jobs and jobs done ways other than way Id do them but doesnt make guys bad
UNLESS its unsafe, botched, crud like a few Iv seen recently just thrown in literaly And another that looked fantastic on the face even tywrapped loom looked the buiss till you looked deeper n saw the 4 holes each bushed n coupled right "proper job" each with 1 phase in it all neat as you like tho Probably "good sparks " but BIG Mistakes"

A bad electrician gets a job installing PV, well there are not that many good ones..

You chaps will find this out in the fullness of time, but take care HV DC bites...
Remember the isolation procedure, AC off, then DC off...
then DC on AC on...

This keeps the DC load as low as possible, or switch off at night.
But take care chaps, there is some poor workmanship out there...

A good electrician does the best job possible under the circumstances

a bad electrician just throws in any old rubbish and as long as it doesn’t go bang they are happy
