For me, back in the 80s, flat mate was a tube driver, we get back to our home station, Borough, he says 'When there's no train in the station, the power rails are dead, I've already done it elsewhere, go and and sit on the middle rail and touch the outer 4th rail'

Me being an idiot does this and gets an interesting zap...

You win hands down.

I took the fuse and disconnected a redundant shower cable. whilst stood on my 5 rung metal step ladders i pushed the cable into the ceiling with my finger, and finished up at the other side of the bathroom in a dazed heap with a burnt finger end. I had pulled the cooker fuse, they were both wired in 10mm, but were incorrectly labelled up on the lid.
And the embarrassing thing about it is that it isn't all that long ago, and teach safe isolation, tag off and lock off!

Cheers............Howard:blush5:

not long ago i put a circular saw across a floor board and BANG, upon lifting the floor board there were about 6 t+e's of varying sizes all going across the top of a joist in a shallow notch :censored:

My mate did that a couple of years back when i was helping him on a rewire, only he went through a water pipe and it took us ages to turn the stopcock off.

Years ago, putting the wrong fuel in my new van, missing a site meeting, and losing a weeks work as a result.

So my gaffer says.."Quick hide that 60m of 35mm 4 core" the contracts manager is coming. ( It was quite a large install). Well it was loosely coiled , not on a drum, so Im not going to put it over me shoulder and carry it to container...9 inch grinder and a pile of copper fillings om floor, Ive got nice 4ft lengths to store....

After the visit he asks me where it is, he went white when I showed him.

I said Id take the blame but he covered me....sorry Frizz

Dumbest Ive ever seen is when I ask is it dead..? "Yeah course it is they say grabbing a phase terminal in one hand and neutral on another. Sub dis board fed with 35mm.

Id NEVER do that, even if Id isolated and locked off elsewhere myself.

Another rip out..main swithch off cut it all everywhere, no semblance of logic. Decorators want a radio so turn it all on and weve missed a 6mm 3 phase, only found by foremans shovel, much headshaking and a sparks gets his non GS38 compliant probes and trys to measure the burred over cut end, the flash was 3ft high, luckily just injured pride.

So theyver left an armoured out, needs to be glanded in the top at the back of a large panel, Take off side panel of MCC, and the lower 6inch one EXPOSING busbars, hes glanding away, worn toecaps mms from busbars.

All this is true Im sorry to say.

I keep looking at this thread and wanting to tell of more than one Major ball dropping event that i have somehow come to be involved with over time , but being on a open forum this may/would lead to probable prosecution , by governing bodies ! :35:

Yeah, wish it would, never see a governing body on site, eek,in general I mean not your circumstance.

It gets tested then thats it as far as I know, no one from JIB or NIC goes round carrying out site visits asking for quals its all left to the firm who can then do cheaper and cheaper installs.

Maybe I missed something.

Years ago, working on a big hotel we were fitting Downlighters on the Ground floor. Boss marked out all the positions for the Downlighters ready for me to drill out, i'm merrily drilling away & on the last 1 drill straight into a main 6" soil pipe. Got completely covered in S*** & part flooded the Main Reception area, Geezus I can almost smell it now.

I've got a few weeks of my apprenticeship left then I'm a big boy weeeeeeeeee, the owner of the company is a grumpy miseable old bugger who barely has 2 words for me and no one has ever been invited to his house. While out with me mates one night I get talking to a girl who I thought was way out of my league, luckily for me she did not think the same and a romance blossomed.
Being a young lad and full of raging hormones, the relationship soon became one where we used to "enjoy each others company" and we "enjoyed each others company" where ever and when ever we could. After several weeks she told me her parents wanted to meet this "wonderful new boyfriend" they had heard so much about so next weekend I rocked up to her house where she was all alone.
For some reason we went into the garage where we began to "enjoy each others company" during which the garage door opened and her mother let out a scream. Her dad then got out of the drivers seat and it was the aforementioned grumpy miserable company owner. Surprisingly, he told me to get dressed and leave (I expected worse)
Even more surprisingly on the followinfgMonday he didn't mention it so I kept shtum and I finished my time, got my JIB card and off I went.
I realise I should probably have joined the dots when I learned her surname and the fact that her dad owned a contracting business but when you're that age and have a stunning girlfriend you don't really think straight do you?

Does that count for this thread?
