Off a Backer immersion heater element. Unlike others I've seen, rather than having a long threaded rod with a nut on the end to hold the cover in place, the threaded rod does not extend beyond the cover, and relies on this sort of female machine screw thing to hold it in place. Which is missing, on one of the elements.

The threaded rod appears to be some imperial thread, slightly larger than M4. I either need some of that (unknown size) imperial threaded rod and a nut to replace the existing (too short) threaded rod, or one of these gubbins, or a Plan C.

Any ideas?!?

Cheers! :)

Unbelievable! I've just done an EICR and couldn't get the cover of one of the imersions. It has exactly this type of nut.
It's rusted and stuck.
I put it down as lim on the testing as it's an empty house and it's the buyer wanting the EICR doing, so no one able to give permition to cut off screw head and effectively damage the imersion without the means to repair it.
I will check the website advised above( thanks Marconi ) and it will give customer an option.

if you are taking a picture of what you need, why not just use the one in your hand?
i assume he's borrowed that from the element that has one, for the purpose of the photo.

My first point of call would give them a call they may be able to put one in the post FOC if not a replacement earth rod.

Backer say they no longer use these and don't have any spares they could send me.

However, they did say that the thread was 2BA. So I've ordered some 2BA threaded bar and a few nuts from these guys: Ba Threaded Bar, Ba Studding, Threaded Bar, BA Studs, 2BA,3BA,4BA,6BA,5ba brass threaded bar, 6Ba Stainless studding , 2ba Stainless Studding, ba Bolts, - http://www.ba-bolts.co.uk/threadedbar.html

I'll remove the original (too short) threaded bar, and put in a longer one, and hold the lid on with a washer and nut.
