Not sure what the truth is about the selly oak thing in the video and not being allowed to wear uniforms in public, where I am from we do not think like that, we are proud of our soldiers down here in Glos and support them 100%, I always thank a soldier for his or her service when I meet one, either in real life or on a forum.

Not been to Selly Oak, so I can't comment, but I live in Northampton and have seen and spoken to some service personnel , and it does happen, the uniform thing that is, I have worked with the Military during my working life, I admire their professionalism and dedication, and I too support them 100%

I've heard this from a lot of people over the years for any number of reasons. A good one is that they feel intimidated if someone is veiled, I always ask if they've been to a wedding lately because frankly anyone who is intimidated by a bit of cloth shouldn't be out and about unaccompanied.

Another one is, if a woman is veiled how do you know if she's a woman and not a man who is intending to harm you. Well, if I'm walking towards you in the street how do you know that I'm not some psycho who is intent on harming you.

Yes, as a country we pander to minorities sometimes but does that harm me in any way? No, I don't think it does. As long as I'm treated equally before the law then I'm ok thanks very much
Yes, I think it's a bit silly that some nursery rhymes are now banned or frowned upon at the very least but look at the content of some of them and you soon see why.

You can't call a blackboard a blackboard any more, well what's that all about? It's a board and it's black. Oh, hang on, schools haven't used them for years, they're all using new technology now so I guess that's another gripe blown out of the water.

Totally agree that Muslims should remove their vails when in public places, however Muslims as a whole are now stereo typed and they must feel persecuted at times, they are about 5 million strong and therefore are general members of the public, I bet a small amount want sharia law yet the public are lead to believe they all want it, I think we segregate communities in the UK today and it can only get worse, I agree everyone should be treated the same and also agree at times we are soft on minorities and should be ready to stand up for everyone as a whole regardless of religion or skin colour, perhaps we should all calm down and stop thinking everyone is the same if a muslim, it isn't the case and I doubt the authorities tip toe around anyone who isn't white either, a lot of crap in the media as usual for some of it, not all but some of it and I like to keep an open mind myself.

I come from one of the heaviest Muslim populated areas in the country, and have a lot of muslim friends who have to a degree western values, but you would be shocked to find practices and mind sets still common throughout their communities like the treatment of women, forced marriages and sharia courts undermining the laws of the land. When you work, chat and socialise on a regular basis you quickly realise that they are not been unfairly persecuted by the press and media but in fact a lot of the issues have been played down for fear of it looking like some sort of Islamaphobia , this is not just a dig at Muslims it also other beliefs that have been swept under the carpet for too long and are only now been addressed because the backlash from society about the fact we should be able to discuss without accusation of racism other religious practices and beliefs that don't fit in a British Society...

FGM ....has hit the news big recently but its been ignored for decades because of this very fact of tip toeing around ethnic minorities in case we upset them... well any belief that has a young girls vagina multilated leaving them physically and mentally affected for life and without any form of pain relief is one sick belief system just to ensure they feel no pleasure from sex... my examples are not isolated cases as a % of the actual ethnic populations in question it quite high so disagree with the thinking that certain groups are been unfairly persecuted by the media TBH I think it require a lot more to start to get their religious leaders to see that it in fact is not acceptable in a British society to force marriage or chop your daughters bits of and doing so will have big consequences....

Im still in shock at how many decades its taken to get these issues on the table rather than it been swept under the carpet that all the previous governments tended to do.

A lot of the time the ethnic communities only have themselves to blame if they feel they are been isolated and victimised, these issues are often promoted in their teachings be it in some schools or prayer services and it took the tragic death of Lee Rigby to see issues of radicalisation put back on the table and the government is still finding it difficult convincing religious Imams that they have to address the problems themselves directly and start reporting those who are falling that way.

Im anti religion not racist because today in this world religion has a lot to answer for as it stands most attrocites in the world are done in the name of religion and you can guess which one tops the list!

Most people in the UK don't understand that the average British muslim is westernised and seen as Kafar (non believer) by most other muslims in the world, they drop the values that in other countries could get you killed and adopt a relaxed version of their beliefs but unfortunately many problems arise within the community as a battle of belief amongst their followers is the result, when we say radicalised its actually misconceived expression ...they have not been radicalised they have just decided to follow the Koran the way the rest of the world does which does not fit in the British society.

Sikhs demanded and got an exemption from the law requiring everyone on a motor cycle to wear a crash helmet.
There is a law which allows same sex couples the right to marry however the christian church (and various other religions) are allowed to discriminate.
There have been laws making sex discrimination in this country for years yet the christian church was allowed to ignore them and did until very recently.
Judaic courts have operated in this country for centuries and no one bats an eyelid. One thing the prejudiced do not mention is that any decision made by a Beth Din or Sharia court MUST comply with British law and that it must be reviewed by a serving British trained judge before it is implemented to ensure compliance.
Any scenario can be twisted to suit anyone's hateful agenda yet very little is mentioned against Sikhism, Judaism or Christianity.
As they say on a well known TV programme, I'm out.

I regularly wore my uniform in Plymouth and Exeter when I was serving, the only time I can remember being unable to wear it was when I first joined up and the IRA were still very active. people post videos like this on you tube to try and promote racial hatred. The problem at selly oak is that soldiers are being treated next to Iraqi's and afghans but saying that I have never heard a serviceman complain about it only far right arseholes.

Memory is a strange thing Dave I was in Cyprus in the mid to late 70s serving, a European face was all that was needed to incite hatred, it's not just recent history, I mean the troubles you refer to EOKA were some dangerous guys as well

I stated Im anti religion this does not make me a racist by definition, many races share the same god or belief so to state Im anti religion does not make me a racist it means in my case that I belief religion and its practices have a lot to answer for in this world, life teaches us to do right and not wrong, religion can teach that its ok to do wrong in the name of god. FMG is by far more damaging and leaves many physical and mental scares that can haunt a female all her life its practice mainly comes from roots of gender inequality and an attempt to control womens sexual desires, its outlawed in most of the countries its practiced but poorly enforced, where as circumcision has it roots again in religious practice but by way of an offering in its distant beginnings, modern day non medical circumcision has little long term effect unlike FMG but yes If done purely for religious purposes Im against it too, the child does not get to choose if this happens they are forced by way of a parental belief and custom. Circumcision does have a place in the world as in a medical context but FMG as no medical advantage and burdens on the health and other services sometimes for a persons remaining life.

This is the law of our land if you are a Sikh and you can't remove your turban for religious reasons then adapt to the society your in and don't ride a motor cycle, don't demand the law is changed to allow for your beliefs ... this is for safety but this point is minor in context as I don't ever recall seeing a Sikh reading a motorbike and they already got one hell of a bandage on if they did bang their heads

A good point made and reinforces my arguments regardless of which religion it is we have a secular government which should mean common sense first not religion when law making, clearly those in power have used their own beliefs to aid some religions.

Judiac courts work well to conform to british law as both have grown and been fabricated together, the Sharia courts are very recent additions to be able to practice legally but many undercover reports are showing that the Sharia system is not operating as it should with decisions still been based around the oppression of women and favouring the practices that are against our laws... the problem is when allowing a religious court to work within a structured law of the land is once permission is granted for its existence its hard to monitor the real workings of it and even harder to go back on the decision - how can you collapse the Sharia court system without looking Anti-Islamic.... anyway no pun intended the jury still out on this one as its still in its infancy with respect to working alongside the British law.

You are correct that there is a non uniform media coverage that hangs over one religion more than the other but it does take its turns Christianity is high on the agenda at the moment with all the same sex marriage, the last few years the very ground of the Catholic church has been rocked with child abuse throughout its ranks and a stain they are still struggling to remove but agree the muslim community is getting a unfair bashing at the moment with world events and those closer to home seeing the law abiding majority getting unwelcomed attention because of the small percentage with stronger religious routed beliefs but they have to take a little of this blame themselves as to why they are in this situe' namely through years of turning a blind eye to the issues within their community. Its the attention they are getting that is now been a positive influence within the community as they are now actively taking steps to monitor extremist views etc and aid the country in the fight against terrorism, it may seem and is indeed some unfair attention they have had but it has a silver lining.

it is run by old Etonians in it for themselves and their cronies.everyone else does not matter at all.
we are heavily taxed by stealth on just about everything we do or buy.
too many really on benefits as a lifestyle rather than a short term fix to a problem.
if your some kind of " minority" you can't be criticised regardless of how unpalatable your views are to the majority of people.
health and safety intruding into every aspect of modern life wether needed or not.
uncapped immigration relegating a generation of kids to the careers subs bench.
an ideology of looking out for no1 instead of others
Miles of red tape hoops to jump through when running a business
zero hour contracts
the rest of the uk falling into decline as London sails onwards and upwards due to government policies
It can't be all bad if they queue up at Calais to get in now can it?

Exactly we have open doors for anyone claiming to be persecuted , in some cases these people deserved persecution in their own countries think of a certain South American dictator

I often wonder how many war criminals have entered the country legally or have found asylum here and then turned on their host country!
The trouble is the extremists on all sides Muslim ,European ie Northern Ireland and Southern Europe and including some members of British organisations like the BNP,EDL are not dealt with before they build up large followings.
You'd think we'd take a hard line with any kind of extremism after 2 world wars and countless other incursions on foreign soil costing so much in British and Commonwealth blood fighting in the name of democracy and freedom
Otherwise what was the point of it all!
