Evening chaps...

Bit of a random one this but anyhow would like to see what you think.

Been emailed the spec for a small bathroom job coming up soon, part of which is installing an in-line loft fan.

Was driving past that way today so thought I'd just check out where it is before pop round for proper survey in a couple of weeks time.

Turns out to be a 3 storey town house, so am thinking hang on a minute that looks a bit too high to get up there to fix a fan grill, dont fancy that !!!

Dont think my ladder would do that high anyway.

Would you do it / thoughts please..... :wheelchair:

Hopefully there is an option for a wall fan (at low level) :uhoh2:

My thoughts are, if you think the ladders/picker is safe and you feel safe on top of it then get on with it.

I'm not scared of heights but I am scared of the ground. The only thing stopping me from hitting the ground is what I'm standing upon. It's your call.

its not what you feel is safe, its complying with h&s

Vent out at the soffit above the window
there is no soffit and,
there is no window,
so

Pray theres a vent tile in the attic,
no theres not.
Oh well, there is always other jobs in the pipeline

Common misconception of working at hights.....first its quite true that there are more accidents on site by either falls or things falling on persons however......most falls occur at less than 6ft......i`m as paul on this.......... if the grounds good (firm) and theres enough room to get the correct angle for the ladders and its all level...or can be made level safely......then go for it...........

not quite, working at height is probably the biggest thing these days, lots of rules and regs, alot of sites ban the use of step ladders

Assuming the bathroom is on the top floor (as the spec is for a loft fan--the bathrooms are often on the middle floor in the 3 storey houses). It doesn't look too bad Sy, that path up the side reduces the working height to about 5M out the back by the looks of it. I'd guess that the bathroom is either out the back or side.

The bad news is that, zooming in, it doesn't look like a standard box soffit, so the out the wall option may be better.
