hi all just wondering what vans you all have, im in the market for another vehicle at the moment i have a vw caddy maxi life but aint working out for me with the windows cant stack my tools above them! whats good and whats worth avoiding?

Mazda 626 GSI 5 door.

Bought brand new in 2002, this is the fourth on I've had - the 3 previous ones were bought second hand.

Been brilliant for me - all the kit in the boot out of sight, & a roof rack clipped on when needed to carry ladders, pipe trunking, conduit etc.

Heavy on the petrol being a 2 litre, but cost next to nothing for repairs. 10 years old, 140K on the clock & still has its original exhaust. Front brake disks & timing belt have been replaced. Other than that it's just been the usual tyres, brake pads, oil & filters etc. Oh .. and only one change of spark plugs. They're platinum tipped & last for ages.

2 x Astra 1.9 cdti sportive vans , like a rocket sled on wheels !
Several speeding tickets latter and still have not learnt !!!:mad2:
A bit to long and i find you end up piling it all on top of the stuff you need .

2 x L200 Warrior crew cabs , used mainly for towing our caged plant trailer when delivering to or clearing site and moving the moling gear about or on the other cherry picker trailer , one with a top on the back and one with a large custom built aluminium site lock box in the back .
The one with a top on i find has the same trouble as the Astra vans and gets all the needed stuff buried under the crap you end up acquiring in the back !
The one with the lock box is best , you get secure dry storage for your tools and still have room for materials in the rest of the bed / trailers and if a roll bar is fitted it is good to strap more than one set of steps / 3 gang ladders too .
And you can get up to 5 hairy arsed spark's just about any where in any weather !

vivaro here too! second one we've had. first one, gear box went after 7 years. cost next to nothing before that. After hunting around dealerships I decided it was better the devil you know than the devil you dont!! They all have their problems no matter what you you go for.

Id prefer a new VW myself only bad thing is head height in the rear n the mid roof one doesnt look that great

personal preferance would be SWB mid roof blue oval as I could get my combies inside rather than on the roof and head height inside wouldnt be a problem

After having old vw and new ones I think the quality has gone like most cars and vans but I just think they are over priced now, if I shift my wagon iv seen a couple of vauxhall combos for sale low mileage with racked out backs as they are ex British gas
