Hi would love to hear your take on this, the exact comments taken from a EICR (2014 installation new build-last EICR test Minimal remedials-broken switch rockers/SKTS etc) - this has been repeated several times over a few DB's The comments vary between 100% and 80% of tabulated ZS values. I won't say anymore I will just let you comment yes it was all in Capitals! - ADEQUACY OF PROTECTIVE DEVICES:TYPE AND RATED CURRENT FOR FAULT PROTECTION - ZS EXCEEDS 80% OF TABULATED VALUE WHEN TESTED. THIS ALSO FAILS WHEN TESTED ON SHORT CURCUIT. RCD SHALL NOT BE USED AS SOLE MEANS OF PROTECTION

Disconnection times listed are for Earth fault and don't apply to short circuits. (These need to disconnect before thermal damage occurs, but not in those prescribed times.) The 80% adjustment is to allow for operating temperature.

Sorry I should have explained, Yeah I fully understand the 80% factor for thermal allowances. That comment has be copy & pasted to lots of the ring circuits. It written in a manner to me that is not typical of a professional Tester. I mean this to me says a lot "THIS ALSO FAILS WHEN TESTED ON SHORT CURCUIT" Spelling aside (This is how it was written) This to me is complete nonsense!
