For gods sake, the system has evolved over the years. Mr. Dunford probably tried to persuade the owners to up grade. There is no legal obligation for them to do so, despite your dire warnings. The more I see of inspection and testing the more I think it’s a money making scam.

What was the original job, replace the light bulb in the lounge?

I had a similar job not too long ago, I was shocked to see it at first but its all straight forward, rip it out mate and install a new board.

no the cust had no lights as the fuse carrier in his metal frankinstien cu crumbled and burnt out!!.. he did the good thing and ring his insurance with homeserve..!! spark came out looked at it and said cant touch it you need a rewire through out... then proceeded to botch his lights to get back on!

ironically left no paperwork for cust but did leave the card for company he worked for!! will mention no names..!

i got call Sunday to ask if i could pop down to have a look by the customers grandson (do a lot of work for him so he trusts me) homeserve spark just connector blocked the cable in db!! no fuse element any more!!!

was told that a rewire is beyond them as they are 90 and just want some thing that is safe and looks tidy!!

any way all circuit IRs are fine lowest was 98 meg ohm...! both installs have 100ma upfronts so no worries!! the lights are 2 core no earth but still operate fine and every thing is plastic
