As a company we work in some fairly dangerous areas in central and southern Africa. The situation in any given place can change overnight so it's difficult to single out any specific region as being the worst although there's a couple of places that we have earmarked as absolute no-go areas. We often hire locally or take a security team with us and there's been several occasions we were glad we did.

Of all the places I've travelled on work both home and abroad I can't think that I've ever felt genuinely threatened, which is odd because I've been in some tight spots in some dodgy places. Probably the most difficult situation I've dealt with was in my time as a youth worker 20 yrs ago and someone pulled a knife on me - the knife wasnt the problem, it was the crowd of other hostiles that went with it! Needed some slick fast talking that night!!

The first Mrs Rock worked in Washington DC for a while, which has the world's highest murder rates, and took a wrong turn one night and got lost in the bad end of town. Ran straight into a street gang and thought she was done for, big time. They asked her what she was doing on their turf and then lectured her about how dangerous the streets were before giving her an escort back to the safer bit.

This doesn't come into your league in terms of danger but installed an electric shower for an elderly lady. When it came to showing her how it operated she came back in a dressing gown which she took of and stepped into the bath SBN!

She must have been 75 I was list for words quickest client run through ever.

Danger probably not but all that went through my mind was "where's the iron", and what would her husband think as he was in house at time.

PEM would the outcome have been the same if she was 55 years younger ?

When I was a 15 year old apprentice, I was in a Laundry cutting threads on steel conduit. The women ganged up on me for my "initiation" striped me SBN plastered my scrotum with tallow & grease. Needless to say I was very wary after that, but good laugh was had by all for years. I learnt not to be left alone with group of older women !
I ended up dating a couple of the newbie girls later, perhaps they liked what they saw ! We learnt from our young experiences,

You would think the work I am doing at the mo.. Domestic.... Fitting Plugs to extractors.. Painters are in... Site induction 15 minutes.. PPE needed at all times.. Hard hat, Hi Vis and Boots..

Seriously though out of topic, I do a little work locally and a certain area and certain people... Lets just say they are not a fan of chasing...

I'm going to Nigeria end of next month... :freak:

Now that IS scary!! ..lol!!

No idea what it's like now, but the last time i was in Nigeria you could have dropped an atom bomb and only caused half a crown's worth of damage!! lol!! Life is at best, very cheap in countries like Nigeria, and most of the time you havent a clue whats going on around you...

I really don't envy you on that trip!! lol!!

I don't think anyone on here is going to say it needs replacing, some may even argue that it's not even a c3.
