FIVE THUMBS

CONFUSED: not sure which course to do 2394 or 2395? Done part 1&2 13 years ago and 17th last year, I'm not a spark but have to carry out minor electrics in my job, replacing motors(single phase and 3 phase) fault finding, replacing light fittings etc. in commercial premises. On a sticky wicket at mo an redundancy may come Knockin! Am I right in thinking 2394 is for inspecting new installations ie new build single phase? Which course would be suitable for me carrying out minor commercial maintenance works which I am told will require certification? I am also considering doing minor domestic work, fitting showers, security lights etc would I have to inspect and certificate this type of work? Your suggestions would be appreciated.

2394 is the one you need. It is initial verification, which doesnt mean just new builds, it means initially verifying the work you have done.2395 is aimed toward periodic testing, which is not something you will likely be doing without the relevant experience. If you do well in 2394, then go on to do 2395.

Also bear in mind that NIEIC and NAPIT require both qualifications for membership and JIB for 'Approved' status......

Are you sure they are both a requirement to join NIC ??? I thought you could join without any testing quals atall, as long as you can prove your competence ?

I expect I will stand corrected on that though !?
