Hi this is my first post im 26 my names rob. Im a carpenter/kitchen fitter by trade. Now i have decided to do my domestic electrical installers course. Ive booked a course which cost me ÂŁ2050 it includes Logic domestic installers cert, 17th edition and inpection and testing 2394-5. They have said i might aswell take the 2394-5 as i will be able to work on more stuff. Ive been told this is a really hard course for a newbie and i dont want to fail it at a ÂŁ500 re test. Do i really need it? The furthest im only ever gonna go is put a new consumer unit in. A lot of kitchens i do they want to add remove sockets and install cooker supplys so therefore sometimes the boards are not up to regs so they need a new boards can i undertake this on a test and inspect 2392 as i can do that for the same price and will be alot easier for me. I will register with napit or similar when completed. Thanks for your help in advance. Rob

I've paid 2050 pounds out wonder if its a simple refund
It might be, how long ago did you pay, was it online - thinking the distance selling rules may apply.
If a rep sold it to you in your own drum then you have a cooling off period.
If you think you've been mislead you could issue a dispute with the credit card co.

fair enough lads get the idea. right I've paid 2050 pounds out wonder if its a simple refund there bound to kick up a fuss. i can see your point at the end of the day I've been around the trade about 8 years now and know basic and safe knowledge imagine a 16 year ol lad from school taking this test and becoming a full quail spark now thats dangerous. i called the IET today to see if they can give me an answer because i can't see it being true myself even them couldn't tell me.

I think the point is that you wont be and nor would anyone who takes this fast track route.

There is a recognised route to becoming fully qualified. That is A core qualification at level 3, NVQ level 3, and AM2.

Look up 2357 C&G Full apprenticeship, or 2365 evening classes then NVQ and AM2 to follow.

I think small steps over time is best, Learn the Subject than just learning to pass a test.
Education is too much on just how to pass a test than how to learn a subject.

C&G2365 you can do part time or smashed in to you in a few weeks.
With teaching someone any subject (mainly with boys) is put it up, take it down, put it up
you learn by repeating

So C&G2365 Level 2 then Level 3, 17th Edition and i think thats about it for start off
From there you can do a Convertion for C&G2357 (NVQ3) and do a AM2
<im not sure how that works, as you got to show jobs done>
<Can you cheat and put up some thing just to pull it down after its been snapped and shown, therefore no need to report it to building regs (This may get changed if i said some thing wrong, SORRY)>
<But as i understand it (dont know why as ive been offered the C&G2357 Convertion by a FE) you need to be full time employment to show off jobs done>

The 2394/5 not really needed, but i think if you do C&G2365 Level 3 you could do them and pass. I did C&G2330 and my units were really the same test as i had for the 2394/5. 17th Edition is how to read the book really, but if you know few things you can awnser the Multi Chose questions easy, and use the Book as it should be as a Reference Book. For there is so many points that one thinks i wont bother with (sauners).
