just don't attempt t put the goldfish bowl on top, like it is on the CRT.

haha. The problem I might have is my 4 year old used to like running up to the TV and sticking her hands on the screen. She doesn't do it now, but she better not do it when we get a HD TV. I'm thinking of putting barbed wire round it.

are you allowed to wire up the barbed wire to the mains.... Not permanently, that would be cruel... just in pulses...

Ignore that its all marketing hype

You want a 1080p tv not

1080i or 720p/I

Ive got a samsung tv and it works good, I don't ever use the smart features.

Sony are nice but more expensive than samsung,lg etc

Utter tosh. HD ready means it will accept an HD input, HD integrated tuner means it can receive and show HD without the need for another box.

Don't buy a Samsung if you have Apple products - despite both companies stating they comply with standards you will have to buy extra bits to get them to work together.

For what its worth we've got a Sony Bravio - which is excellent.

Hope this helps

My old iphone used to drive my Samsung TV crazy. Would start changing channels, changing the volume, cycling through menus etc...

Get rid of the iphone, got a samsung and it's never happened since!

I've got 47" LG smart LED HD and its amazing, even the basic sound is excellent, it was ÂŁ450 when i got it just before xmas, and they threw a couple of HDMI leads in as well. It had ÂŁ150 off cos the newer model was due out this january, and they wanted shut of them.

I've had an LG 42 inch LCD HD for last few years. Been great but starting to show a few black bands now. Gonna replace with a Samsung LED.

toshiba 32 inch hd in the bedroom and a toshiba 64 inch projection tv in the livingroom
both cost me nothing but small repair parts
fuse for the 32 inch and lamp for the 64 inch

Update:

Got myself a Samsung EH5300 - ÂŁ380.

Not the cheapest I could have paid for it, but at least if something goes wrong with it I can take it back and get is sorted straight away.
The missus is happy, she can finally see all the channel digits when searching on the cable box.
The kids are happy cause they can now play multiplayer on Minecraft.
I'm chuffed with it. Really nice picture and sound.

I'm also addicted to Minecraft (creative mode). Building Krak Des Chevaliers at the moment. 180 x 110 blocks, forgot how high it is but the highest point is near the clouds. Now I can see everything in high quality blocks :)
