hi all,
looked at this job today and not 100% sure of the system.
Ze is 0.15 suggesting tncs but look at the 16mm earth.
the cables disappear througn the wall, under a garden path that has bee dug up and replaced to enable the install and then are nowhere to be seen.
apparently it was done quite recently but no certificate was left with home owner.

There wouldnt be a cert if its the supply as the DNO's dont issue them.

I would say its a TT.

No cpc coming from the cutout.

Agree with Jason,definitely a TT.Did the customer have the board moved?Have you found a spike outside?All the cabling,meter and main fuse look brand new

Is it an annex or something.As Jason said,there is no earth at the incomer.Could be a TNCS if it is fed from somewhere else

judging by the Ze i would say its tncs, but like you say theres no earth in the cutout
apparently the gas board came round to repair a leak and damaged the incomer.
it was repaired and i would say there could be some sort of joint below the garden path.
surely they wouldnt have joined it below ground and run the cables up separately would they

I think you need to trace those cables and find out whats what.

There is no reason why a TT would not be that low, although it is quite rare.

I think a call to the DNO is needed first to find out exactly what they did.

If they installed a PME system then it should have been labeled as such.

Don't know why they don't put inspection pits in like BT if they joint cables.Are there no signs of anyone digging up the road.What has the customer saidIf the DNO came round to repair the cable,should they not have it on there system.Still

the only way to trace the cables is to dig their garden path back up, something im not prepared to do
have to call dno tomorrow and find out what it is.
definitely cant be tt as the are no poles in the area and no overheads.
cant say ive ever had a reading as low as 0.15 on the few tt installs ive worked on in the past

the only sign of digging is on the path. the couple who own the house are elderly and havent got a clue what was done

0.15 on a TT, rare......sorry to disagree mate but no way. You'd have to bury a grid the size of Scotland to achieve a Ze like that on TT.

No i know and it is rare.

However, it could be something as ridiculous as them not having the correct cable to carry out the repairs and only had straight con on the van.

This could be the reason why there is a separate earth as this may be attached to the lead sheath underground.
