Hi there i have just registered with elecsa and assesment went very well but am now looking to open an account with a wholesaler but not sure which one. I live in woodseats in sheffield and have thought about sharrow electrical but not heard anything about them, city are too expensive i think, any ideas would be much appreciated, thanks

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh don't run before you can walk think carefully before you want to tie yourself up to an wholesaler, you'd be gutted if that 4mm^ T+E is 60 pound a coil and down the road they are doing specials for 45 pound.

Having an account is fine if your large enough to get the benefits from it. If you work around the country, or have guys working for you. If your a sole trader then shop around, best wholesaler is the one doing the best deals at that time.

At the least you need 2 trade suppliers that are on or near your patch. Sure its great to save ÂŁ10.00 but if it takes an hour to get there and back is it worth it?

Sharrow Electrical is not a bad little independent tbh, used them a few times when working round south Sheffield. Most of the decent ones are the other side of town though.

I personally avoid Citys like the plague

Apparently if you spend a fortune with S*ity's they really look after you and take you out on the lash, but again, I hate using them even if I'm getting stuff on account - if you're not one of their elite they treat you like dirt.

personaly I would as your just starting go for an independant and build a relationship, they would be more helpful , rather than using two or three once or twice a month.

i personally prefer the electric centre. the guy i deal with in leeds is spot on and will bend over backwards to give me good prices. when i do get a quote elsewhere and thats not often he will do his best to match it. if he can`t he is quite happy to show me without me asking the price that he gets it in for. normally its a couple of quid and if i get it off him he looses it off something else. also if i am anywhere in the country he will ring the local branch to get it in for me at the price he would do it for. top lad and tbh i could not ask for anymore. also he dropped off a box of red plugs when i was on site for me with the van driver :D well impressed as i had not ordered anything else to be delivered

Personally i do use city and senet , and some time TLC not got much choice round here but they guys at citys are great and if ive ordered stuff it will be dropped off at my house when i comes in they do go out of the way but you have to be careful on the accounts as they do make mistakes IE ÂŁ85.00 for 100 stuffing glands and the biggest one was ÂŁ123,000.00 for 16 mm 3 core armoured cable i only had 10 meters lol
