This poll is for all Forum members. Please read the poll carefully and then choose the best description in the context of your membership of the forum. I can't include all options, so you might like to go into more detail by posting in the thread.

The poll is confidential (forum names are not visible).

For the purposes of the poll:
'Apprenticeship' means a pre-planned formal arrangement for multiple years of structured classroom and on-the-job training.
'Short Course' means a concentrated course of less than 6 weeks of mostly classroom based learning. (Just a C&G 2381 / 2382 'regs' course doesn't count.)
'Electrician' means anyone doing hands-on installation, maintenance, repair or testing of electrical systems (normally for payment) and includes 'domestic installer'.

No Dave but I am only registered as a DI due to the work load I do outside of other work.
This has been my argument with some here, they are far too quick to label any DI as a Electrical Trainee wannabe.

Some of us do trade as a DI (which I know is a made up term by Nicey) because it covers domestic work, if there was no DI tag I would save myself a **** load of cash each year & not bother with assessments, but still do the domestic & the commercial work.

So when I see forum members stating they tell customers not to use a DI because they are unqualified or wanna be's I'm afraid I just think "what an ignorant hunt they must be"

I ticked Electrician other as

I had a apprenticeship in the 80s which I didnt finish
then I worked in Electrical installation doing mainly new build
then rewires No Quals
I then Did various other jobs including the occassional electrics
Then I became a carer
Then I decided to retrain while being a carer
Spent many ÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁ on a short course with RF training
I then Spent MoreÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁ on 2391 at bury college
more ÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁ 2330 at warrington collegiate
more ÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁ on NVQ lv3 with Xs training
Registered for last 3 yrs with ELECSA for More ÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁ

But as a DI am I a proper sparks?..................................who knows

If you have the qualifications why in the name of god would you classify yourself as a DI?

Only a masochist would have cause to have that stigma attached willingly. Would I be right to suppose you wear sackcloth and ashes to work?
