Found this today on an EICR been like this for over 8 years.

Someone has lived with a big hole in their wall like that for 8 years? That's pretty surprising.

I opened the wall up today to see the damage. A tv bracket had been sitting there for over 8 years.

Looks like they missed the cable the first time so had a second go at it.

Shocking install that.

gives me an idea. plaster in some bell wire connected to a loud bell from a 9V or 12V battery. give kevin brown underpants.

Zones are so over-rated.

Imagine an ideal world, where everybody knew about zones, all cables were properly installed in zones and no-one drill/nail/etc into them.... think of all the work you would be missing out on

Would miss out on all the fun.

there are zones and there are zones for sparks, prescribed zones where cables are installed according to regulations. there are other zones for plumbers, builders, kitchen fitters, these are known as "The Forbidden Zones" and only exist on the planet Kytfcrap, 200 light years from our solar system. it's where all plumbers, builders, kitchen fitters should be consigned to, hopefully before any of them get hold of a VDE screwdriver.
