Hello guys, I'm new to the site and would appreciate a little help in deciding who is the better governing body to be with, and the cheapest.
i have been with NICEIC for 12 years, and I feel they do not serve me well, I cover all works, and even strangle pipes. Lol. At present I am paying approx ÂŁ800+ between annual membership and annual visit. So what do recon guys?

They're all the same mate, parasites. If you really must join one of them just stick the names in a hat and pull one out.
Forgive my approach but I can't help feeling that these organisations who supposedly uphold standards are nothing but robbers.

NAPIT is about half the price if cost is your only issue. NICEIC defiantly far better recognised and Approved Contractor Status sets you apart a little . They are just a necessary evil really.

Out of 100% of domestic customers only 15% know what niceic is and most dont give *removed* as long as price ok

Only because sparks allow them to be, if everyone just said no they'd be history within a year.

That's what really annoys me about this country in general, people whinge and moan about howe much they hate things or how wrong things are and how situation x shouldn't be allowed but no bugger is prepared to get off their arses and do anything. They just muddle along with the status quo and continue to moan.

NB, Don't in any way consider this a dig at you MM. It wasn't.

If your talking about Domestic schemes then go with the cheapest, I misread your initial post I thought you were an approved contractor and so didn't reply as another member said something similar to what I would have said. For a scheme only try stroma, 230 I believe rather than the 491 the NIC charge.

I am with NICEIC and although expensive, I find that their online certification process makes certification so much easier. I don't know how other organisations fair in terms of online certs, but for all their bad points, NICEIC are actually doing quite well with this.

Iam a full niceic contractor but I feel they are robbing us blind. I see that napit and ECA have free test sheets which saves me about 300 a year as well. Niceic are very manipulative and slander other bodies they even set up the elec register with elecsa nic and ECA only blanking napit but the electrical safety council recognises napit and are not happy with niceic using bully tactics
