Why £330+Vat

Can anyone give me an idea why they think its a great idea to charge an additional £330+Vat to be put on their PRS scheme? also no mention of a additional cost on the website (Elecsa). Just think now that Stroma has been brought by Napit that it is basically a cartel or monopoly that we have no choice in, but I for one will not pay to be on the PRS scheme, it has nothing to do with improving the industry and everything to do with robbing us blind.

Private Rental Scheme, seems not many of us know about it until you try and present an EICR to a letting agent that thinks its gospel.

When we had our annual assessment in Sept the NICEIC assessor joined us in, (after asking first if we wanted to) and although we dont do too many EICR's thought 'why not'!
Didn't cost a penny, (I'm sure they would have invoiced us by now), so no cant see why it should cost £330+vat.

what's PRS?

Private rental sector regulations 2020.
I'm an approved contactor with NICEIC. It didn't cost me anything to be put on their register of electricians who are "approved" to carry out EICRs in the private rental sector.

I've done several for private landlords and 3 different letting agents, not one has mentioned this PRS, it's not in the landlord guidance either?

Is the PRS register the same as the government CPS website, where there’s and extra column that says you’re approved to carry out electrical inspections? Or is it a totally separate register altogether?

As I can’t find one if it’s the latter....

Yea I know they have to be inspected now, and have been carrying them out, I'm saying I've not heard of the stipulation that you have this extra paid add on "PRS" with your scheme... no agent has asked for that for me so far

Ah sorry I misunderstood.
There's no requirement to be on any list or register. But if a customer, or indeed a letting agent, is searching for a sparky to do an EICR, the search is more likely to lead to a sparky that is on such a register. That's the idea anyway.

The problem is as I have encountered is if you do a cert for a customer and get paid they then present it to the letting agent who refuses to accept it because you are not on the list, you have an angry customer who cant let his house until he gets a cert from someone on the list..
