some of these coils i have seen though , makes me wonder what the spaerk has used to coil them round.:censored:

If anyone in my company did this ... I would be using their neck as a former for a rope and a sharp drop!
Inductive loops in high fault current circuits only increases disconnection times, the exact opposite of the desired requirement ... DON'T DO IT!

I think a little bit of judgement and knowledge has to come into it though, I mean - there's a decided difference between 'making a coil' and simply putting a loose turn or two to soak up a couple of inches slack left for good reason.

Also, most bonding clamps only let you present a crimped lug inline with it, so at 90degs to the pipe, so you often (not always) end up with an earth cable that's a little vulnerable, hence it's desireable to have a 'weak point', like a loose turn, that will take the brunt of being hit, rather than the joint itself. BUT, I say again, there's coils, then there's coils.

Guilty..Cover plates for street furniture especially, funnily enough, I got told a month ago all Heli were dismissed from 17th

Any argument for attenuation of vibration..?....i.e. the helix on pyro when terminated at motor on plinth.

I wouldn't do it any I wouldn't allow my guys to do it either. It might look pretty but it's a bad habit.

The only time I'll ever allow it is on the smaller metal enclosures we'll put a couple of turns in the earth bonding wire between the main box and the hinged door. This allows for better flexibility and less mechanical stress on the wire when the door is opened. The larger enclosures have an M6, M8 or M10 stud so those get a copper braid strip fitted. Occasionally when terminating in a motor connection box we'll pigtail the redundant neutral wire if there is one so it can be tucked easier out of the way.

i was under the under standing bonding was to bond all services to the same VOLTAGE and bonding clamps are NOT designed for current carrying so inductance not an isue

lol... Its for inserting a protective warning dart in.... and when there's a fault it shoots out and upsets the cat...who then 'darts' upstairs, sh*ts all over bedcovers by way of telling you that you have an earth fault !

you forgot to take your medication.
I forgot to say....
the large amount of wayward DNO current flowing though the system
and there you are are waiting for a few hours with the cats tail in one hand and superglue in the other while the cat hangs on to your thighs ... lol

You would have thought that electricians would know how not to upset cats!
