Why does everyone want to be an electrician

Not sure if people have discussed this on here but it appears that regardless of knowledge in any way/shape or form a lot of people want to become electricians.
ie.
I was a shelf stacker at Tesco but i've now decided to become an electrician.
Leaving my job of 10/20 years and want to become an electrician.

Are they being told an electricians job is easy? / very short training to earn mega bucks ???????

Its must be that £50,000 a year you can earn (According to the training centres)

No an electricians job is not easy and every day is a school day but in this current economical climate people are saying I no longer want to work for Tesco and I think I will train up as an electrician and to be fair as I have said befor Thatcher killed off the production run of electricians as one guy retired another got started so we ended up with a shortfall then it was lets rush some people through and the Schemies were to blame because they were too busy with sales ie courses , books,training examination and did not realise they were diluting the trade then we come to the training companies who say give us £5k and we will make you an electrician add all of this together with our European cousins who we must legally recognise their homeland grades and you have false hope and a trade that is in disarray and lets face it house wiring is a peice of p!$$ but someone forgot to tell them that this is only 20% of what an electrician does

It's not just Electricians.
Lots want to be Plumbers, Gas fitters, BG multiskilled?, HGV drivers, Tanker drivers etc.

It's the greener grass syndrome.

After 45 years at work I'm still learning.

My Son's planning his semi retirement and I'm still working.

I had no choice in ending my last career, which was awesome, blowing **** up and stuff...

I chose to be a sparky because that's what interests me and I put more into a job I like. I get to travel and meet different people, use my head to solve problems or just bang nails into walls, sometimes with my head. I'm always learning new things and always want to, I couldn't give a crap about the money. My family is housed and fed and we're happy.

I could have gone into transport management but that just sucks the life out of you. Summers here, skirts are getting shorter and tops are getting lower, what could be better?
