Apart from taking photos in a public toilet… would you think this is strange?

Four ceiling panel luminaires all with a blue light. Photo makes it look ultraviolet, but it was a pale blue. This was in a local well known supermarket.

Because the blue makes it harder to find veins, hence prevents people from "shooting up"!

2) I do not hang around toilets for this information!

It is a new initiative being tried which does appear to work apparently.

I have implemented it in a few upgrades.

Would it be Sainsbury's by any chance?

It's not a new idea kit was being used at least 10 years ago, in Sainsburys at it happened and they weren't the first to try it.

It goes back a bit more than that, it was used in the uk around 2003, but the government for the last 10 years or so has discouraged its use.

It doesn't necessarily stop people, sometimes they will continue, but it runs a higher risk of missing the vein and other issues, however recently more places have restarted the idea including "the well known supermarket" (actually I consulted on a couple of chains, one of which did not decide to implement this time round).

It is also being considered for a number of clubs in Edinburgh and Glasgow (Probably a few more, but outwith my direct knowledge).

It's controversial as it does deter some (go to a different store), whilst in other cases (more associated with pubs/clubs) it continues, but with higher risks!

Essentially if the sellers/buyers have a choice they go to another place, but if they need to sell/buy in that place it doesn't stop them.

I was fitting them in public conveniences back around 2000 ish all over Warwickshire as part of an idea to cut out heroin use, shortly after that a lot of them were closed down!
