Firstly this isnt a sales pitch.Im just wodering what people think about finance and will it encourage more people to look into solar energy or not?

Yea your right but ovet last year ive spoke to a lot of people that dont want to go down that route as it means the company owns there roof for 20 years and they are unable to sell property

People make decisions on whether to finance something on several factors. If someone requires finance to make a solar project happen and the rate is acceptable, then of course it will help, same as finance helps any industry.

Free Solar for domestic properties is offered by relatively few companies now, as it is difficult to make work unlike it was in 2011. The stories that you are unable to sell your house with a free system on the roof are largely exaggerated.

There are many installers (and many forum members) who dislike the "free PV" model, and you could argue it doesn't help the industry as a whole, but that is not really related to your question.

edit: just read SolarCity's post - same point as above!

If you offered a finance package to a customer as well as a price to buy outright then it gives the customer the option. some customers wont even think about it because the interest rates add on to the payback by about a year or more.

I know this isn't a sales pitch, but if you do happen to be in the market to offer finance via solar PV installers to finance solar PV installs, particularly commercial scale installs of 10-50kWp, secured against the FIT income at rates of 4-6% with a 6 month initial payment holiday and quarterly loan repayments with loans over around a 5-10 year period, then I'd be receptive to a PM / email to discuss this as I want to find a provider of this service, and we have at least one client waiting.

It is worth checking out what may be available through the Energy Savings Trust in your area. In Scotland there is finance available for businesses in this range as part of wider energy efficiency packages that can include PV. This may be a Scotland only scheme if the money is being put up through some branch of the Scottish Government.

Only in Scotland though.

I too am considering finance but only if I can sort something out without having to sort out a credit license, I've thrown enough money away in the last 2 years.

Think it was done through a Scottish allocation of CERT funding. Before October there were interest free loans to consumers of ÂŁ4000.00 over 8 years for PV. This was a complete no brainer. It wasn't widely advertised as they would have been swamped. They finished at the end of October as the money has now been diverted to the Green Deal.

hello gavin could you drop me a message please in regards with the commercial project on finance as ive tried messaging you but saying your inbox too full.Energetic i have messaged yourself also.

Council for Mortgages lenders do approve mortgages for houses with solar panels like the one you call rent a roof

In addition rent a roof as you call this type of offer do not own your roof they rent the first 2 inches of airspace above your house

Find out who owns the land under your and everybody house in the UK you will be surprised look under mineral rights
