WTH is wrong with you soft southern jessies! Last week I was fitting outside lights in shorts and a t shirt while it was snowing. All you have to do is work a bit harder and you're sorted.
:)

exactly! i mentioned this on another thread... my winter attire is normally a polo shirt, even when working outside. 5 minutes of graft usually gets your body temp' up. pffftt, southerners.

See Shagbite, you're almost a geordie but one question remains......
When going out on the lash in sub zero temperatures do you wear a jacket?

out of curiosity what gloves do you all use when out in the cold? has anyone found anything that can be worn while you work AND keep the hands warm? Because im struggling to find anything up to the challenge!
Have a look at canoeing/sailing gloves, or shooting gloves.
Usually the shooting gloves don't uncover the thumb, but the canoeing/sailing gloves do.

Luxury, we used to dream of wearing shorts & tee shirts. When we got up to go to work, we had to get up in the morning at 10 o’clock at night, half an hour before going to bed. Eat a cup of cold poison, work 29 hours a day down mill and pay mill owner permission to come to work. And when we got home, our Dad would kill us and dance around on our graves, singing Hallelujah! Aye, & you try telling young people that today, and they won’t believe ya!

I wear this. Sometimes screwfix have a clearance and if they have any of these left in stock they normally go for about £40. I should have bought two at the time. Worn this everyday for the past 18 months and its in absolutely great condition still after taking one hell of a beating. Unfortunately i weld in it too....which is a bad idea as the numerous burn holes through it now will suggest, but if your not a total idiot like me, and dont expose it to flying molten metal, it's top banana. Quilted inside so warm as a ------ drawers.

Macwet gloves for shooting, they allow fine fingertip type jobs. I wear some thin, fine work gloves that only cost about £1.50 they are brilliant. A bit like Showa gloves but allow you to do fine work like holding small screws etc

I had a great Jacket that was B-seen Branded, 3M Reflective as well, have still got the High Visibility Fleece liner with Zip off Sleeves, very warm......the big jacket got stolen off site though, 2 days after the previous one got stolen......was outside contractors in for a day to fit an automatic door.....took a lot of stuff from different people... as well as my 2 jackets my new Stabila went for a walk, and another worker lost his PSP from the tea cabin table...
