I've fallen in love with a ceiling light on German ebay and I was wondering if it would need to be modified to be fitted here in the UK?

Here's a photo of the back of the light so you can have a look. Any help/advice would be great!

Thanks,
Marie

Hi Marie, it shouldn't need any modification to work in the UK. Can you tell me what type of lamp holder is fitted as there is a specific regulation regarding ES lamp holders (screw in type)

Sintra, the OP is in whitby ... i'll be suprised if she even has an electric supply... only joking Marie.

As He say's, you shouldn't have a problem - when you say there isn't a lampholder, isit one of these fancy new LED jobbys?

Hi Frenchie, in a Sparkies world we refer to it as a lamp, in the mortal world it's referred to as a bulb. So, is the bulb a bayonet type (BC or SBC) fitting or a screw type (ES or SES) fitting. A screw fitting does need to be wired a specific way.

I have to ask... What is the difference in wiring a BC from an ES lamp?

Thanks people.

I work in Industrial. I don't use any ES fittings. I like to ask about things I don't know about.
