Wiring downlights

Afternoon,

I'm wiring in three downlights in an internal downstairs hallway. The downlights are mains voltage ones. I planned to wire them from one to the next but on one of the connector boxes, I cannot get two wires in for love nor money for some reason (on either live or neutral)

Are there any issues with using a three-way junction box and wiring off that as below:

Mains supply---------------JB--------------- DL ---------------DL

``````````````````````|
`````````````````````DL
(ignore ` otherwise text moves over to left and ruins diagran

The other downlight connector box I managed to get both wires in without any issues

The junction box will be easily accessible from lifting the floorboards above

Many thanks

"This product is double insulated - no connection should be made to earth"

and

"Open the cover of the connection box by loosening the screw and lifting the cover. Connect the supply wires to the terminal block respecting the polarities N = Blue, L = Brown"

Nice and helpful then. In the ideal world best practice would be to ensure that you have continuity of CPC (earth) to the end of the circuit. Sure it isn't connected to the fitting but you may need the CPC in the future if you change the fitting. Hence why the clic flow connectors are a good solution for such installations.

Understood, although to be fair, its only three lights and quite easily accessible from above, so it would be a quick re-wire if I changed. Going back to my original question, is it OK to use a junction box as suggested or should I re-wire with 1mm T&E which I believe has smaller diameter copper wire so would probably fit the connector box

Mmmmm.. the regs state that a cpc should be present at every accessory. You need to terminate the pvc into a JB or clic connector so that you can preserve the cpc continuity.
