Hi,

I have a ceiling fan which i would like to fit in my bedroom using the existing ceiling rose to connect too.

The ceiling fan has a connector block requiring a neutral/line and earth. am i right in thinking i can use the switched line form the wall switch for the line, the black cables for the neutral and obviously earth to earth? and then connect up the red cables in a seperate connector block to continue the circuit?

I would like the ceiling fan to be controlled by the existing wall switch.

Many thanks in advance for any help!!

hopefully, the fan will have 2 pull switches, one for the light and one for the fan, doubling as speed controller.

if the rose is 3 plate, then you have the option of using the wall switch or not. all depends on the fan.

Yes the fan has two pull chains one for the light and one for the speed control, im looking at only having the fan on with the light then at night i can use the pull chain to switch off the light.

arithmetic is obviously your weak point. 2015 -2011 = 4. go to the back of the class and stay in at playtime . :33:

If the fan has speed control switch, why not wire the fan on permanent live and the light on the SL.So you can control them indipendently .

Original post was 04/05/2011 so to me that is 4 years. Please keep your handbag tied to your side and stop swinging it :)

It would appear Goldie 123 ... you looked at the OP's join date and not the date the post was made hence the humerous banter quoted to your post, that's if you are still confused why you calculated it differently, there appears to be no malice meant tbh, just jovial banter.
