Hi.

I am replacing my kitchen so am buying a new double oven and hob.

I currently have a free standing electric cooker wired into a 32a switch.

How would I wire my new double oven and hob with the existing connection? The hob is 7kW and oven 4.5kW?

Hey Pete. I thought 450mm to 1200mm was build regs, not guidance and based on if you are moving current switches sockets, then it is a new kitchen install, then you would need to adhere to build regs. Willing to put my hands up if I'm wrong! :) I'm always learning :) Stu.

Hi Stu,

Yep building regs on new installs 8 doc m - existing you can go with heights for cosmetic reasons.

I seem to remember that part M applied to sockets and functional switches and the CCU, it does not apply to isolators as they are not for general use.
Also whether it applies or not is based on the age of the whole installation and not the age of parts of it.

I am not suggesting that it is not a good idea to improve things, I am just stating my understanding of when the regs apply and I would like to check them again before betting my life on it.

put it where it suits best ideally above worktop at 1200 to comply with the gestapo. in a base unit is fine. it is accessable . you don't need a tool or a key to open a cupboard!!!
