Hi
I am attempting to fit an PIR floodlight. When I took the old fitting off there are 2 sets of wires. The blue neutral and earth were not connected. The 2 reds and brown were. The power to the light is controlled by a switch in my kitchen.
As the new fitting requires the current regulation colour connections, where do i connect the 2 reds and brown? Picture attached of original set up.
Many thanks

Very suspect looking, the two connections on the lampholder will be switched live and neutral if the current set up works, but what the loose blue is is anyones guess....Your halogen will need to be earthed and looking at that you would have to doubt whether an earth is present......get it checked by a competant electrician.

Do you have any test equipment available?? I honestly would not like to hazard a guess on this one as it looks proper spurs and straw stuff.

I could only echo wirepuller and suggest you contact a qualified spark.

Cheers.

What is the voltage reading between the various colours and each other, with switch off and with switch on
What is the voltage between those colours and earth

If you can determine this, all will be straightforward
If you cant, you would need assistance

Well if the brown of that T&E is being used as the neutral......can you not swap the conductors over and use the blue as neutral as it's meant to be?? seeing as the blue isn't actually doing anything.
