Discuss Wiring shower fan in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

There are many possible ways to achieve this, but it all depends on how much money they have to waste on this?
What switch do the want to triggerthe fan? The shower controls or the 45A isolator?

A client wants 2 fans in a bathroom, one for the normal bathroom and one solely for the shower to come on when the shower is switched on. I am not sure how to wire the shower fan because if you put it on a timer the permanent live will be protected by a 45 amp MCB and not 6 amp as it should be. Please help.

I have a small quiet fan with a long run-on time triggered by the room light plus a much bigger fan with a short run-on time triggered by a flow switch in the output pipe from the pump/mixer unit. Works for me!

Back to the OP - is there a light above the shower? If so I would fit a 2nd pull cord, separate out the light over the shower and add the fan to the separate light - so when the shower is used they put the light on, which activates the fan. The added benefit of this is that when the bathroom is used during the night, the fan is not activated.
