wiring volkera boiler

hi i am wiring a new boiler and am not sure about the connections at the boiler??...i am going from my spur timeclock to room stat back to boiler i think? but dont understand the 24vdc on the thermostat..is it not 230v? and also does it need a s/w at the boiler. any help much appriciated

It clearly states that the stat connections are 24Vdc so don't even attempt to put 230Vac to those terminals. Without any further information I would suggest taking a permanent 230Vac supply to the L N & E terminals on the boiler and to the supply side of the time clock. Then come from one of the terminals on M2 block to the common terminal on the time clock then from the N/O terminal on time clock to stat and from stat back to the other terminal on block M2 at the boiler.

I would strongly recommend getting someone who knows what they are doing and understands a simple wiring diagram like that to do throb otherwise you could very quickly write off that boiler. Any electrician will be able to do it,

thanks for the info..im a first year apprentice and am more curious than anything. if i come from the common on the timeclock or even the n/o is that not 230ac feeding m2..this is where im getting confused?

your right dave,not for messing around with but as a first year just trying to understand why m2 is 24dv as i thought the room stat was 230ac which fed m2. is there a transformer in the stat?

No, most stats are "volt free" in other words the stat will switch what you feed it within limits.

cool thanks..i was under the impression that after feeding the timeclock with 230 ac the common terminal would be linked with it?? obviously im wrong and the common terminal is independent to whatever u feed it with yea?

It may well be, you must check first.

You need a timeswitch /programmer with Volt free terminals.
DON'T put 230v onto the M2 connections.
