Any tips on the best flat wood bits? Bought makita ones - didnt last for even one first fix!!!

I've found that auger bits work 10x better than flat bits. But that could be because the auger bits are new and good quality and my flat bits are old and rubbish.....

Bosch do a good new flat bit. They seem well priced.
The armeg beavers are good but hit a nail and they are toast

We use these from CK in an angle drill so plenty of torque with low speeds and they fly through.

Try an auger bit you'll never use flat bits again.
Alougth when first fixing timber frame houses I write off an auger bit to every first fix... If one lasts more than one house its a bonus.
