Working far and away

Just wondered if any of you have experience of working outside of europe.

Not far from qualified and have always fancied doing some traveling. I've heard about people going to middle east/africa working, but not sure how you come accross that sort of work! is it just luck if you happen to know someone working there, or do people tend to go through agencies?
