We are waiting for a big job to start for us local in Northampton. So for a few weeks, we have been asked to help out at a school extension in Highbury told that we could park on site got there can not park on site only 2 hours max on local roads nearest car park 3 hours max and too far to walk. How do jobing London electrical contractors manage apart from if they use residents visitor permits eg seen Thomas Nagy get a parking fine as if paid early is a half penalty cheaper than moving van and paying every 2 hours etc?

We did a job in Kensington years ago and I spent longer moving the van and feeding meters than I did working. Still managed to pick up two tickets, from the same “attendant” who was cycling round the same patch. After the second one I asked him if that meant I could just stay there and he said “sure, but if your van will go on the back of a tow lorry it won’t be there in an hour or two”. I didn’t risk it, and I did see a Range Rover larger than my van on the back of a tow truck later that day.

The best of it was that, when presented with the bill including my fines and parking fees, the client said “oh, I should’ve organised a day permit for you”. They paid without complaint though.

I lived in Kensington for 12 years, best parking permit in London as it covers the whole area, I miss that permit.
