Hi, I'm after your opinions/experiences.I'm a sole trader in the electrical business (mainly DI stuff), could having a personal web site be beneficial to the business.

When can more exposure for a business, large or small be a bad thing?

Sites take time to bring in work, but they do work, mine has been running for a few years and it's been well worth it.

Having even a basic website is worth while, as is having a "business" email rather than hotmail or similar.

On your website make sure your address is promiment, and your "scheme" logo. Add pages when you can afford it.

totally agree. even a one page web site with a suitable TITLE tag can begin to bring in business. use a TITLE tag like 'Electrician York - Electrical Contractor York' or similar and when people google for "electrician York" ie a local search, your page will start to show up. you can also claim a free google places listing to help promote the web site. also link to your web site from some free directories.
