I carried out a condition report today. The door bell is on its own circuit and feeds a transformer mounted next to the ccu the earth has been pulled out of the T+E. The transformer doesnt need and earth so would you record this fault?

IMO, the cpc is for class I equipment, not the circuit wiring. If the wiring was to be damaged, it would short to the neutral and operate protective device.

If you're sure the transformer doesn't have an earth terminal, and it's the only load, and it's a short run, then no. It may be against the letter of the regs, but it's highly unlikely that anyone's going to try to extend the circuit and require a CPC.

Well I thought every cable needs an earth but being up against the board it seemed a bit too pedantic to report it. The installation is only a few years old and I never found any other faults.

So you replace the cable and the transformer doesn't have an earth terminal, what are you going to do next?

If its class 2 then no comment, nothing to note, IMHO

If he is that concerned that the cable should have an earth then chuck a bit of cable in I have seen this many times but the earth in the CU is connected and in the transformer it is folded back

The Wiring Regulations do not require the cable to incorporate a cpc. However a cpc must be brought to every point of wiring, and so it is a non-compliance. However as it does not give rise to danger in its current state you may feel that it does not warrant a mention on your Report. That is your decision to make.

Cut a 15amp connector in half, take the plastic off, glue the remaining 1 terminal connector under the incoming cover and fit earth symbol...... simples! :devilish:
