Some of you may or may not be aware but Lesley in Coronation Strret died. In a shocking episode she fantastically, at last, decided to put a live toaster in a sink full of water.

Now, if an RCD had been fitted to the socket circuit with which the toaster was plugged into would Lesley still be alive and kicking?

According to mythbusters, you'd be pretty knackered without one

From 6ish mins in

Just watched the video. Well, most of it anyway.... Was looking at some of the comments after it....

Between us we could sort a fully earthed set with no earth protection, PLEASE!

Rid the world of Coronation Street, Emerdale, Arse Enders, Etc,,,,

PLEASE, between us we could rid the word of soap operas

The timing has got to be perfect, every character has to be electrocuted at the same time!

Time you could spend with the family………

Sod it, they’re quiet while glued to the set, it’s not worth the hassle

BTW I’m divorced!

I thought the lower limit for lethality was 50 mA

medical opinion states that up to 30 milliamps you will feel pain, between 30 and 50 milliamps you may suffer involuntary muscle spasms meaning you are unable to let go of live object, and over 50 milliamps ventricular fibrillation can occur, this causes the heart not to pump blood round the body.If in doubt about something it is better to touch it with the back of the hand as a shock would cause you to pull away whereas touching it with fingertips could cause you to grab hold.this probably means more to us older sparks as it was common many years ago to"test" things with the back of your hand,I remember one old spark doing it with a cooker when the customer said she kept getting shocks off it.
