This installation is under the stairs. The isolation switch on the left is for the lights of the property and the one on the right is for all ring mains. All the earthing wires from circuits seem to be wrapped around a screw in the top left of the unit, but there is no earthing connected to the incoming and there is a white wire wrapped around the pipe which runs in a panel of the stair case. I am not sure how old this installation is but earthing does not seem something that was considered.

Trouble is learning all the acronyms. I always refer to ring finals RFC as ring main and PME as a TNS system. As I hear these terms more often I will instantly remember them. I will do after this thread anyway lol.

Errrr, PME is TNC-S, ...Not TN-S!! lol!! But i must admit, i often still call FRC's Ring Mains, which i picked up from working with my uncle when i was 13 or 14. Always been pulled up on it, but old habits and all that!! lol!!!

Aye ... they confuse me an' all bonny lad.

I'm thinking about starting a campaign against them. I think I'll call it "the Campaign for the Removal of the Abbreviated Phrase" .............. or C R A P for short.

Spark2be, you could always take your photos and all info to college and check the knowledge of your tutor, are you in an apprenticeship, if so ask your boss what he thinks, first hand direct knowledge.
