Washing Machines and Tumble Dryer's are pretty much common practice to be positioned within bathrooms in Cyprus (and quite a few other countries that i know of). and in some pretty exclusive villas and houses too!! In fact, i can't think of another country where they don't allow a socket outlet in bathroom/shower room. including USA and Europe.
The only places you don't see them installed are in some ex-commonwealth countries that still follows UK Regulations...

Personally i can't see much of a problem with the practice these day's, especially where 10mA RCD protection has been provided like in many of the European countries (6mA in the States)!!

totally agree E54, however i would have allowed it all if they could meet the 3m rule from 7671 and if the install even had a RCD to its name..!!

typical student rental unfortunately! shower was disconnected today and water pipes blanked off...!! (handy when you have an agent on your side and not just after a cheap quick deal)

So the burning question is - working on the basis that the CU was there first, what came next the shower or the machines and how long ago do you think they were installed??

Who the hell was saying it should be assessed against anyone else's Reg's?? I was making an observation of what goes on elsewhere, and to fact that i can't see a problem with a socket in a bathroom so long as it's adequately protected....

You don't have to rise to the bait...
