does anybody no the bs number for the main switch for the old wylex fuseboard

Up till 1997 it was 5419 for the double pole switch

Nice timing lads, I've just been doing a PIR on an installation that is controlled by a 4 way white Wylex rewireable fuse board dating back to the 60s or 70s. I couldn't find a hint of the BS No or rating for the main switch.

Nope, that is the standard for the distribution board, not the main switch. It would still be BS5419. Just as a BS EN 60439 is the standard for todays enclosures and consumer units, and the main switch is a BS EN 60947-3.
