Just had a cold call from Yell.Com after reading this thread and others on the web I was against using them so told the rep I was a new start up but had a reasonable client base to get rid, but he started to tell me how that doesn't work and I need to list with them. I ended up hanging up in the end as he wouldn't take no for a answer, very pushy sales always says to me someone is desperate for custom or commission.

I fell for their schpiel when I first started, reckon I had 2 calls during my year with them, complete waste of time to be honest, as are websites pushed by these internet shylocks. Makes me weep thinking how much I let myself get plundered.

Yell is a complete waste of time. Been on for 6 months and all I get is people trying to sell me their advertising services! Best return is from ads placed in local parish mags - ÂŁ60 for a year. Ist job earn't me ÂŁ1200. Well worth it.

What is a parish magazine?
