Just a thought. As a fully qualified spark, how do you feel about the DI ? I like everyone to make a living and all, but hell! I just ain't got no love for em.

Hi

not necessarily.

I know of a few time served "old boys" that have been doing it longer than I have been alive, served appreticeships and simply want to do a few domestics jobs in later years. They are "DI's" but not 5 week wonders.

There’s no need to love or hate the five week wonders. It's completely self policing. If their method of training is so much more superior than ours, then evolution will see to it that they succeed and if not it will all go horribly wrong for them.

not necessarilarly. some guys just have it in them to do a good job and have done the short course just to get the qualifications. for me, if a guy does a good job, i don't care if he's got 2330, 2382, a degree, or just a grade c o level.

On top of this, the consumer doesn't really understand part p and full scope, and will hire any of the two do to full scope work. Of course the 5 week man will take the work on. Not to say he'll bodge it in every instant, but would you promote that kind of approach ?

No, its a bad tack, for sure, but as Tel says there are exceptions to every rule.

EDIT - just thought, exception to every rule except where ----------- & incest are involved. a sweeping statement, sorry. I may think of others.

Part p is not a bad thing. But to able to train on a course for several weeks, and then be able to get registered to sign off work. Of course people are going to take the ****. They'll sign off all sorts. Furthermore I think it's a major reason why the trade/industry has begun to nose dive. It sends out a message that Any old skivvi can do the job.
