You can use 2 lead on the megger . But the only reason it would be reading trip and not tripping is your taking the leads off the connections, the megger does take around 35 seconds to give you loop readings your not giving up and taking the leads off too soon are you?

You can't use 2 leads on a 1552 on a no trip setting it will never work.

I tried to test my newly installed lighting circuit the other day, it came up with a battery sign and then turned off...

I opened the back up to find that I need 1000005 x AA batteries of which I had just put the last 4 of my AA batteries in my radio...

I looked away, inserted my re-wireable fuse in the holder, lights came on, jobs a good'en!

Thats gotta be one big mft to house all them them batteries!!!!!lol

Why would a newly installed lighting circuit be protected by an OLD rewireable fuse?????

Hi,

Need some help on Zs testing on lighting circuits.

I am an electricians mate, recently passed my 2330 and 2392 test/inspection. I have been doing live testing on a lighting circuit and when I test earth and phase on earth loop I seem to always get trip on my megger testers. As I havent been testing long im not sure if im doing something wrong so any help would be great. I know lots of people say you shouldnt live test but I'm working in pubs where you cant dead test to get R1 + R2 readings.

I am not as experienced as you guys so please explain it in a way I can understand.

Many thanks

Jonny.

1. As you are the "mate" couldn't you get your gaffer to show you? or try it at home first?

2. I wouldn't recommend getting a R1 + R2 on a live circuit.

You would have thought they'd have a switch to flick on and off to engage an override. Not on each PIR but an actual light switch
