I have a single wall switch powering 1 light and I want to add a separate light and change to wall switch to a double to power them both separel;y, how do i do this please?

You will need a neutral for the new light, also have you tested the switch for an effective earth?

sadly not modern, 15th century but rewired about 15 years ago.Rough age of house?
Modern homes tend to have a neutral at the switch, so it might turn out easier than you think.
