As the title says.
But then I cut off a jst connection off one of the light strips and I can't get them to work together... the one strip is plug and play and I wanted to attach the next one to the strip at the end so they work on the same command. It's all going into a party bus so there is a 5-6ft gap where I was going to use wires across the back to connect/bridge them together. The second string won't work at all aside from a couple lights on the strip. I've tried so many different things but I'm hitting a wall now

Try a new setup, strip may be damaged, cannot really offer much from the details I'm afraid. Did you cut when live? Transformer may be damaged. Another option may be witchcraft, have you been cursed by a friend or relative (maybe there is a doll with pins in it at a friends house? I find its one of those three for most electrical issues.
