Hi, im having trouble. I want to wire up some outdoor lights through a smart home plug. They were previously connected to an analouge timer and after removing this ive found that there is one singular wire coming from the lights. this wire has neutral (blue) live (brown) and another black wire which im struggeling to identify. ive attatched images of how they were previously wired into a time guard timer. Idealy i want to wire it so that i had a an outlet which i could plug the lights into through a smart home switch. Apologies in advanced as this is probably a stupid question however any help would be thoroughly appriciated :)IMG_20200526_171414.jpg

You should not be putting a socket on that circuit.
If you want the lights to be controlled by a smart switch, you should buy a smart light switch, not a socket.

The black is the switched live to the lights. It should have brown sleeving or tape to identify it as a live conductor.
