ATEX Isolator front removal?

Can anybody tell my why you can only remove an ATEX isolator front off when it's in the on position??

Never said that. I would use someone who can install it, then I ,been compex trained would then check it.

Ha, so you don't have time to type "DETAILED INSPECTION" but you do have time to post up a HSE link.
Theres 3 checks to do;
1,visual
2,close
3, detailed
but this you know!

As i've said you can use anyone you want to install it but you wouldn't use a 9 year old bloody school girl, of course you use someone who can do the job unless your training someone. The point i'm making its up to you who you use but a compex trained person should check it

As your not a qualified ATEX inspector or compex qualified (i know this from your replies), you're not allowed to sign off someone else's work.

I would disagree, Why is that 99.9% of the oil and gas industry only employ/use compex qualified workers??

And this also includes instrumentation techs as well as electricians?

The ones I've seen can only be removed in the off position, they can not be removed in a padlocked off or on position.

You shouldn't be taking the front of an isolator off in an ATEX zone of there is still chance of even on side of it being live.

Your right I'm not compex qualified. If you think that's the be all end all in signing off Ex work, I think you need to do some reading up.

For the isolator? No, haven't seen one that can only be opened in the on position.

I've never seen one either apart from the one in his photo. It looks like a decent product so I'm assuming there's some mysterious logic or maybe some new reg I'm not aware of behind the arrangement or only being able to remove covers in the on position.
